Rolex Yacht-Master II Regatta Chrono

Finally Rolex has come out with something that does not look like their original design from 20 years ago. The majority of their watches look plain and have stayed basically the same for many years, which is good and bad. We like the bold new design and we think this type of watch might help attract other buyers that would not normally buy a Rolex because of the old school look. On the other hand we are sure buyers that do purchase a Rolex because of the traditional look will probably not like this particular model as much. Either way here is a nice shot of the new Rolex Yacht-Master II Regetta Chrono that was just introduced at BaselWorld.

What is Eco-Drive?

Citizen Eco-Drive watches use the simplest, yet most technically advanced power generating and storage system in the Watch Manufacturing Industry. A Solar conversion panel and energy cell are the power provider for these Quartz Watches. Eco-Drive's ability to use light from any source to generate electrical power means that the supply is limitless and free. The absence of any added complex power generating machinery that would require additional upkeep is another big advantage.

Vacheron Constantin Contemporary Patrimony Bi-Retrograde Day Date

Purity is a question of proportion but refinement a question of taste. Recognized as the ultimate expression of modern horological classicism, the Contemporary Patrimony line powerfully affirms this refined kind of styling, which has become the Vacheron Constantin hallmark. An Haute Horlogerie timepiece with classic, aesthetic lines, the timepiece Contemporary Patrimony bi-retrograde day-date is a real Vacheron Constantin thoroughbred. It has a 42.5 mm 18K rose gold case and has baton hands, four polished 18kt gold triangular hour markers shaped at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock, and a minute-circle of applied gold cabochons. The display functions are clearly legible thanks to the generous proportions of the opaline silvered dial and the meticulous care brought to each detail conveys an overall impression of harmony.
It uses the caliber 2460R31R7 automatic mechanical movement which has hour, minute, date and day functions. An innovative ceramic ball-bearing system drives its 22K gold guilloché rotor. The strap is alligator leather and the clasp features Vacheron Constantin's 18kt rose gold Maltese Cross which also appears on the crown. Embossed with the Poinçon de Genève hallmark, this classic ‘hand down to generation’ time-piece is priced at 13,000 euros (approximately $16,800).

Royal Oak Offshore Shaquille O’Neal

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Shaquille O’Neal Limited Edition. Two editions of this watch will be available, a steel version of 960 pieces, and a 96 piece white gold version with 32 diamonds in the bezel. This particular watch uses the same cal. 3126 movement that was found in the limited edition Arnold's All Stars watch. Probably the most unqiue and cool feature of this watch is the use of Shaq's number on the dial of the watch. Since he began playing for the Miami Heat he has been wearing the number 32, so they reversed the "2" and the "3" so the "3" actually comes first. This watch comes in a box that looks like a life-sized basketball and is made of polished wood. All proceeds from the endorsement of this watch will go to Shaquille O'Neal's charity foundation.

The Cartier Watch, known as “The House of Cartier” was originally a jewelry boutique, was founded in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier. It was not long before the fine craftsmanship of Louis Cartier became recognized for superior quality and the standard for excellence of Cartier Watches. About 50 years later, his three grandsons were successfully managing Cartier watch boutiques in Paris, London and New York. Today, Cartier watches are distributed internationally and are world renowned for luxury timekeeping. Modern Cartier watchmakers still base their watch designs on the early fundamentals developed by Louis Cartier. In 1917 the famous Cartier Tank watch was introduced. The Allied Tank commanders who defended France during World War I influenced the design of the original Cartier Tank wristwatch. The Cartier Tank American watch is one of the most definitive watches of the 20th Century. The rectangular shape, smooth edges and rounded corners embodies elegance and charm, while still being considered a classic watch today.

New Model - Glashutte Original PanoMaticTourbillon

The top model of the new PanoMatic model line by Glashütte Original is the PanoMaticTourbillon.

This model unites one of the most difficult complications in classic watchmaking with the horological innovation of the 1990s – the panorama large date. The cantilevered tourbillon according to Glashütte master watchmaker Alfred Helwig has had a long tradition in the Saxon manufactory, losing none of its horological importance and mechanical fascination.

The PanoMaticTourbillon represents a premiere: The Glashütte watchmakers have given this construction automatic winding for the first time, creating a composition that contemporarily interprets the best and most difficult in haute horlogerie.

Appearing to be flying, the finely finished tourbillon cage rotates once a minute, while simultaneously providing a home to the display of seconds. Blued hands glide across the 18-karat white gold hand-guilloché dial. The characteristic panorama large date, for which this demanding edition of wristwatches is named, perfectly completes the impressive appearance of the timepiece housed in a polished platinum case.
Movement diameter is 32.2 mm X 7.65 mm, automatic winding with off-center rotor, 21,600 bph with a Breguet spring balance, 40 jewels and 2 diamonds plus Incabloc shock protection. The power reserve is 48 hours.
Special features include a Flying minute tourbillon on the dial side, panorama date, skeletonized rotor, 21kt gold rotor, finely finished movement, beveled edges, polished steel parts, blued screws, screw balance, three-quarter plate, and Glashütte ribbed finish.

MSRP is 88,000 Euros and only 50 pieces will be made.

Seiko HONDA Sportura BAR Racing Watch F1

A colorful overpriced co-branded Seiko Honda racing watch. I guess this watch is targeted at Honda fanatics, because personally I would not pay a cent for a wristwatch that has a Seiko movement combined with a Honda logo. Although I am sure I know at least a few people that would pay the retail of $550 or close to it for the mere fact that this watch has a Honda logo on it. They should have at least used the Acura logo. Bentley, Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes and Honda.....hmm. No Honda does not fit into that list of cars.

The Harry Winston Ocean Chrono watch

The Harry Winston Ocean Chrono watch is a magnificent luxury timepiece that unites exclusive materials, superlative craftsmanship, and a unique mechanical complication. The Harry Winston Ocean Chrono watch features a 44mm case made entirely from 18K white gold or 18K rose gold. Unmistakably Harry Winston, the case design of the Ocean Chrono watch is exceptional in its complexity, and the demands it places upon those skilled enough to finish it to completion. The brushed finish atop the bezel transitions flawlessly into high-lustre polish on the case lugs, and crown protectors, which feature the subtle shape of the archway leading into the Harry Winston boutique.

The Harry Winston Ocean Chrono watch is animated by an exceptional movement. Originally introduced in the company's famous Z1 Chronograph watch, this mechanism represented a world premiere. Using the outstanding basis of the Frederic Piguet 1185 chronograph movement, Harry Winston's watchmakers succeeded in brin ging to life for the first time, a chronograph mechanism with entirely retrograde functions. Visible through the exhibition sapphire caseback, this movement shows off its luxurious Cotes de Geneve and perlage finishing, as well as a gold rotor complete with the Harry Winston "HW" logo. The dial of the Harry Winston Ocean Chrono watch is likewise a masterpiece of subtlety and elegant complexity, displaying a flawless vertically grained texture that offers an outstanding contrast with the satin finished main time dial, and semi-circular dials for the retrograde indications; a close look at each of these applied white or rose gold elements reveals that each has edges which have been painstakingly beveled. At 9 and 3 o'clock, respectively, can be found the 12-hour and 30-minute totalizer, while the scale at 6 o'clock represents the chronograph primary second hand. Right inside this scale lies a tiny circular window which reveals a tiny shuriken in richly blued steel, which r epresents the sub-seconds hand of the watch; it rotates continuously so long as the watch remains running.

The Harry Winston Ocean Chrono watch is completed by a highly detailed rubber strap, which is intricately shaped to fit the complex case lugs. It is accented with the same shuriken symbol that appears in the sub-seconds window, and features an 18K white gold buckle. Harry Winston also offers the Ocean Chrono watch in warmly colored 18K rose gold and an alligator strap, as well as a stunning white gold version complete with a mother of pearl dial, and more than 5 carats total weight of brilliant-cut or baguette-cut diamonds.

The blue sapphire crystal dial comes with a sky part which is visible from any town (reproduced upon request). It has sapphire discs for the astronomic indications and white enameled gold leaf-style hands. The crocodile leather strap comes accompanied with white-gold clasp.

For the indications, following the position of the Earth, the white-gold oval represents the visible horizon of the sky vault whose orientation varies. In a window, it displays the moonphase. Other indications include position and sidereal hour of Sirius and Moon.

Spitfire Double Chronograph

Spitfire Double Chronograph or Doppelchronograph Spitfire is a mechanical pilot watch with automatic winding. It uses the IWC caliber 79230 with integrated chronograph which has a module for the spilt-second feature.
This brushed 3-piece case comes in stainless steel with a diameter of 42mm and a thickness of 16.8mm. It has additional ductile iron inside of the curved case for magnetic field deviation with very thick sapphire crystal and is depressurization-resistant to 6atm (60m).

It is running on an ETA mechanical and automatic movement with functions covering hours, minute, seconds, date, power reserve and day of the week.
The case is made of stainless steel of 39mm diameter and thickness of 13.3mm. Its bezel is brushed and has a curved sapphire crystal. The crown is stainless steel and screwed down. Its water resistance is 10 meters.

Grand Lange 1 Luna Mundi

This is a worthwhile limited edition called Grand Lange 1 Luna Mundi where it comes in a set of two hand-finished watches. Both watches possess the moonphase that depicts correctly the moon’s movement around the earth at each hemisphere.

One of the watches is known as the Ursa Major. It uses 18K white gold for its case that is about 41.9mm in diameter and a thickness of 11.3mm. The sapphire crystal is curved and treated with anti-reflectives.

The caseback is transparent with sapphire crystal that reveals the movement. There is a date-corrector pusher located at 10 and a crown at 3 where both are made of white gold.

On the Ursa Major is a depiction of the prominent constellation Big Dipper inside its off-centered hour and minute dial at 9. This constellation is represented with rhodium-plated gold cabochon.
Within the hour and minute counter are printed minute markers and Roman numerals for 3, 6, 9, and 12. All are made of rhodium-plated gold including the two hands within.

It still has A. Lange & Sohne’s patented outsized date with rhodium-plated bordered double windows. The two numbers in each window are run individually on a two-disc mechanism. The power reserve counter is still located at 3 and the small seconds with Northern Hemisphere moonphase is positioned at 4 and 5.

Similarly for the other watch, it is made of pink gold. The counters within the dial are all similar as Ursa Major and fine detailing use all pink gold instead of rhodium-plated gold. The main differences are the hour and minute counter contains a representation of the Southern Cross instead of Ursa Major and the moonphase depicts the Southern Hemisphere.
The straps used are crocodile leather that are hand-stitched for high quality finishing. The buckle are made of the similar metal as the case. This beautiful Grand Lange 1 Luna Mundi limited edition is produced at only 101 sets.

Master Grand Tourbillon

Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates the opening of its Heritage Gallery with the release of the Master Grand Tourbillon, an exclusive series equipped with a fascinating tourbillon mechanism. Made up of 78 parts weighing barely 0.28 grams in all, the grade 5 titanium tourbillon carriage spins elegantly on its axis once a minute. The date indication is adjustable in both directions and makes a bigger jump between 15 and 16 so as not to spoil the view of this magnificent technical accomplishment. In addition to the prestige of the standout complication, the automatic movement also features a dual time-zone display.

Reflecting 175 years of tireless striving for horological perfection, this watch issued in a platinum limited edition of 300 embodies the inventive spirit that has pervaded the entire history of Jaeger- LeCoultre. In tribute to Antoine LeCoultre, a technical pioneer who devoted his whole life to the quest for peerless accuracy, it comes in an imposing presentation box containing a piece of stone from the original workshop set up by the founding father of the Manufacture.

For Jaeger-LeCoultre, a tourbillon worthy of paying homage to the spirit of invention bequeathed by Antoine LeCoultre naturally had to meet all the demands of a high-prestige precision instrument. The engineers of the Manufacture were equally uncompromising in their determination to endow the Master Grand Tourbillon with superlative performances in terms of precision, reliability and sturdiness.

In tribute to the rich legacy of the Manufacture’s founder, this exceptional watch is delivered in a dedicated presentation box featuring a special recess housing a real fragment of the wall of Antoine LeCoultre’s workshop. This wall fragment – which was knocked down to built the entrance to the Jaeger-LeCoultre Heritage Gallery – represents a concrete reminder of the pioneering technical work of Antoine LeCoultre. This brilliant self-taught inventor, who learned the rudiments of his trade at his father’s blacksmith’s forge, devoted his whole life to the quest for absolute precision and reliability. His achievements have left an indelible imprint on watchmaking history and his spirit lives on more strongly than ever in the men and women of the Manufacture who continue to create exceptional models such as the Master Grand Tourbillon.

A tourbillon geared towards precision and sturdiness
For this limited edition, Jaeger-Lecoultre has devised a balance with a 11.5 mg x cm2 inertia capable of supplying the automatic movement with the energy it needs to keep the carriage in motion and to perform the characteristic 28,800 vibrations per hour expected from a high- precision movement. Among the screws arranged around its rim, four of them serve to make adjustments. This technique ensures constant adjustment over time that is unperturbed even by shocks. Any losses in energy due to friction are also reduced by the use of spyr-type gear-wheel teeth with a profile specially designed to ensure regular transmission of force. The lever is also more compact so as to fit into the limited space of the tourbillon carriage. Finally, the automatic movement is wound in one direction only, in harmony with lengthy research that has shown that, once on the wrist, a watch winds twice as fast this way than in the bidirectional mode.

Exceptional decoration for an exceptional movement
In keeping with the firm conviction that consummate artistry is expressed through even the smallest details, the decoration of the movement visible through the sapphire crystal case-back is worthy of the beauty of the complication. The exquisitely hand-crafted bevelling, drawing, snailing, circular-graining and buffing make a perfect match for the going-train bridge adorned with Côtes de Genève.

For the feather-like tourbillon that weighs in at just 0.28 grams, the engineers of the Manufacture opted for a carriage made from an ultra-light, precision-enhancing titanium alloy that is harder to work with because of its exceptional hardness. Tremendous care has been lavished on this noble mechanism with its polished sinks and fine sandblasted surfaces. The cambered escapement bridge cleverly follows the curve of the carriage. The single-piece oscillating weight in 22-carat pink gold is embellished with a stamped medallion motif adorned finely engraved matt and brilliant raised effects.

A time-honoured mechanism paired with unique functions
The genius of the inventive spirit consistently cultivated by Jaeger-LeCoultre has also found expression through associating the tourbillon with the home time/travel time principle – one of the refined technical features that has forged the reputation of the Manufacture and enables at- a-glance comparison of reference time and local time.

In the upper part of the dial, a 24-hour subdial maintains the time reference, or can indeed be used at any juncture to represent the second time zone. To ensure a fast display of the travel time zone as the main function, the local time is read off in the centre and can be adjusted either forward or backward in one-hour jumps, while automatically driving the date accordingly. This innovative date indication, adjustable in both directions, jumps between the figures 15 and 16 so as not to spoil the view of the impressive technical feat that is the main highlight of the dial.

The seconds display also testifies to the accuracy of this watch. It appears in the circular tourbillon opening by means of a three-arm hand including an arrow-tipped spoke that indicates the passing seconds in step with the revolving tourbillon carriage. In this way, reading off the smallest standard unit of time constantly draws the gaze to the hypnotic motion of the most fascinating horological complication of them all.

Radiomir Black Seal Ceramic

Radiomir was the first watch model created by Officine Panerai. A watch that crossed the history for the heroism characterising the value men who wore the Panerai at the beginning of the ’40.
In that period this model presented for the first time some technical innovations which determined from the very beginning its character and its qualities: a case very easy to read, winding crown, screwed back and a strong cushion shape, but very simple at the meanwhile.

This model was the precursor of all the Panerai watchmaking, thanks to its basic and simple characteristics. The Radiomir feature became stronger along the time. Nowadays this model with sports and at the same time discrete shapes suits with technological and precious materials, fit to host high watchmaking movements.

At the 2007 SIHH Radiomir will not only host the P.2003 Calibre 10 days automatic GMT, but it will also the presented with he following new versions:
  • Radiomir Black Seal, ceramic case, with the hand-wound movement OP XI;
  • Radiomir Cronografo, steel case, with automatic movement.

To create this model, Neuchatel Manufacture watchmakers has now devised a completely new process: a high-tech treatment of isostatic pressure which enhances and improves its technical characteristics.

The result is interesting both from the technical point of view and from the purely aesthetic angle: the ceramic used is Zirconium Oxide and it is moulded from powder using a process of isostatic pressure (instead of being cast as is the normal practice). In this way all the positive features of this material are enhanced: its extreme durability (up to five times greater than 316L steel), its strong resistance to a wide range of temperatures, and the fact that when worn for long periods the watch does not become scratched, damaged or corroded.

Also, ceramic formed in this way takes on a more homogenous appearance than that resulting from the which is the traditional method of casting the material.

Movement : Hand-wound mechanical Panerai OPXI movement, 161/2lignes, 17 jewels, monometallic Glucydur®balance with Nivarox® balance spring, 21,600 alternations/ hour, Incabloc® anti-shock device, power reserve 56 hours, COSC Chronometer Certificate
Functions : Hours, minutes, seconds
Case : Ceramic, 45 mm in diameter, removable wire loop strap attachments in steel with special hard black coating, winding crown in ceramic personalised OP
Back : crew steel with special hard black coating
Dial : Black, sandwich construction, with luminous Arabic numerals, seconds at 9 o’clock, Torpedo reproduced at 6 o’clock
Crystal : Anti-reflective sapphire, 2.2 mm thick

Instrument BR01-92 Orange

In the West, the color orange is associated with energy. In the professional world, orange is symbolizes emergency, risk or danger.

It is usually used to highlight important information. An “overheating engine” gauge or a “low fuel” indicator will often be shown by an orange warning light. It is therefore no accident that the American Coast Guard chooses orange (in association with blue, its complementary color in the visible spectrum) for its flag. With its ergonomic black and photoluminescent orange dial and its superlative Swiss movement, the BR01 Instrument Orange embodies Bell & Ross’s philosophy:“Function initiates shape”.

History of Bvlgari

The Bvlgari's descend from an ancient family of Greek silversmiths whose activity began in the small village of Epirus, where Sotirio, the founder of the family, made precious objects in silver. In the mid-19th century Sotirio emigrated to Italy where in 1884 he opened his first shop in via Sistina in Rome. With the help of his sons Costantino and Giorgio, in 1905 he inaugurated the shop in via Condotti, which still today is Bvlgari's flagship store.

During the first decades of the 20th century, the two brothers developed a passionate interest in precious stones and jewels, gradually taking over their father's role. The period following the second World War marked an important turning point in Bvlgari history. In fact, it is during this period that Bvlgari moves away from the strict disciplines of the dominant French school to create its own unique style inspired by Greek and Roman classicism, the Italian Renaissance, and the 19th century Roman school of goldsmiths.

The 1970's mark the beginning of Bvlgari's international expansion with the opening of shops in New York (their first overseas), Paris, Geneva, and Monte Carlo, building towards the 50 shops Bvlgari has today. In 1977, the Bvlgari-Bvlgari watch is created, a design that is now considered a classic and is still Bvlgari's best selling watch. In the early 1980's, Bvlgari Time is founded in Switzerland to manage the creation and production of all Bvlgari watches.

The 1980's mark the continuation of significant events such as the opening of the flagship store on New York's Fifth Avenue as well as shops in the heart of Europe (London, Milan, Munich, and St. Moritz) and in the Far East (Hong Kong, Singapore, Osaka, Tokyo). In 1989, Bvlgari signs an important joint-venture agreement with Girard-Perregaux, the renowned Swiss watchmaker company, for the production of the movement of Bvlgari watches.

In the early 1990's, Bvlgari Parfums is established in Switzerland marking the Group's entry in the perfume world with the launch of Eau Parfumée, Cologne au thé vert, and, Bvlgari pour Femme in February 1994.

In 1994, the company introduces Chandra, the new line of jewels in gold, fine porcelain, and multi-colored stones, during the fashion week in Paris. Bvlgari hosts a glamorous party which is filmed by the American director Robert Altman, who later incorporates it as an important scene in his film Prêt-à-porter.

In 1995 Bvlgari introduces a series of watches characterized by a classic design and enriched by precious stones. Trika, a new bijou-watch with a flexible bracelet is also introduced. In September, Celtica is launched, a line in gold characterized by the use of multi-colored stones with a cabochon cut.

On July 17th ,1995 the Holding Company Bvlgari S.P.A. is quoted on the Italian Stock Exchange Telematic system and the International SEAQ in London. Today, Paolo Bulgari, the Chairman and Nicola Bulgari, Vice-Chairman, with their nephew Francesco Trapani, Chief Executive Officer, manage the company's development with the intent of better serving an international market, while remaining fine and prestigious jewellers.

History of Tavan

One of the most recognized watchmakers in Switzerland during the 19th century was a man by the name of Antoine Tavan. His lifelong work to conceive and redesign watch escapements and movements would go on to become some of the most distinguished advancements in watch making history.

But what exactly is a watch escapement? Well by the simplest definition, it is the larger gear in a watch or clock that connects the train wheel with the pendulum or balance to maintain a steady rhythm of seconds. The name is derived from the gear's function to 'escape' from a pallet as it revolves. A precise and steady hand is required to chisel the escapements of each timepiece to exact proportions with a great deal of patience.

In 1805 the Genéva manufacturing firm, Melly Freres specifically requested Tavan's craftsmanship to create a new breed of watch escapement. The commissioned task went on to produce not just one, but 12 new watch escapements including 3 of his own unique vision and design. In fact, these exact models are still on display in the Museum of École d'Horlogerie to this day.The Society of Arts has always been a tremendous innovator of the watch making world. In the spring of 1816, it announced a competition for the regulating of clocks and watches. The challenge was to create a watch so precise that the variations could not exceed 3 seconds within a 24-hour period. However there was a catch; this feat had to be accomplished without any regard for outside temperature or the positioning of the watch itself, whether it was sitting flat, suspended, or worn. Antoine Tavan walked away victorious with 800 florins in his pocket and a whole new level of prestige in his community.

And that prestige would only continue to grow as years passed. Tavan astounded the watch making world yet again in 1825 when he introduced an entirely new creation. This device was a watch with two systems of second hands on the same dial. One hand had standard sweep seconds and the other could start or stop by means of a push-button. The concept of the chronograph had been around since the 1500's, but using "running" seconds and "dead" seconds on the same dial was an unconventional idea for that time period.

Antoine Tavan, among other watchmakers of his time, left behind a legacy that contributed greatly to the establishment of superior watch making. So today we introduce you to Tavan, the brand. True to Tavan tradition, we are committed to bringing you this stunning classical collection of timepieces that are master crafted with the same precision and dependability in mind.

History of Movado

Movado, a company whose name means "always in motion" in Esperanto, began its life in 1881 in a small workshop in La Chaux-de-faunds, Switzerland. Founded by talented watchmaker Achille Ditisheim and his team of six employees, all watches were manufactured and assembled by hand.

By 1899, their hard work and determination had paid off. They were awarded six first-class Official Rating Certificates in their class, and in the following year, they were awarded the Silver Medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris.

By 1905, the company had settled on its now famous name, Movado, and began in earnest its now famous pursuit of excellence in design and function. They won the 1910 Grand Prix Exhibitions in Paris, Rome, Brussels and Rio de Janeiro for their introduction of 8 ligne wristwatch movements. The introduction of the Polyplan watch in 1912 took the watch community by storm, and these watches are highly sought after at auction today.

In 1947, American designer Nathan George Horwitt created the first Museum Watch. It featured an uncluttered dial, with a simple gold dot marker at the 12:00 position. He likened the design to that of a sun-dial, like recognizing the sun at its zenith at high noon. Movado later teamed up with designers and artists such as Andy Warhol to create one-of-a-kind limited edition watches, which reside in museums, galleries, and collections today.

Movado is returning to its roots today. It has re-introduced the KingMatic series, which was originally introduced in the 1950's, and featured the first automatic movement and sweeping second hand, both driven from a central rotor. Today, the KingMatic features an all stainless steel case, stainless steel or leather bracelet, sapphire crystal, automatic movement, and is water resistant to 50 meters.

History of Rado

Some years later Rado released DiaStar , timepiece famous for its scratchability. DiaStar made Rado extremely popular. And even nowadays Rado produces a collection which carries DiaStar brand.
