History of Vincent Calabrese


Vincent Calabrese established his brand in Lausanne in 1978. Born in 1944 in Naples, he moved to Switzerland in 1961 where he worked as a watchmaker for various firms. He has continued as an independent craftsman, during which time he has filed close to twenty patents, including ten in his name. In 1985 he and Svend Andersen founded the Horological Academy of Independent Creators (A.H.C.I.).

1977 His first movement: a future landmark in watchmaking, it gave rise to Corum’s Golden Bridge watch.

1985 Creation of a totally innovative flying tourbillon, the first since the advent of quartz. Blancpain put it into production, giving it an eight-day power reserve.

1989 From 1989 on, Vincent Calabrese designed and made several original time displays: the wandering hour, differential hour and central hour were patented in 1989, 1997 and 2000 respectively.

1994 Creation of the double-sided Janus wristwatch for Universal Genève.

2000-2007 Numerous watches have been made under the Vincent Calabrese name or for leading watch firms.

2007 Vincent Calabrese celebrated thirty years of independent creation with the unveiling of a new watch at Baselworld.
